Notes
a. Note:   "House and land bought of Mr. Holgrave" were used as security in the probate of the estate of John Pride of Salem, 28 December 1647. (Records and Files of the Quarterly Courts of Essex County Massachusetts 1636-1686, 9 Volumes, Salem, 1911-1975.) Quoted in "The Great Migration Begins" p. 968. Listed as receiving 20 acres in a land grant in Salem, dated 1636. Appendix A of "History of Salem." He appears in another list, in the handwriting of Roger Conant, the result of a town meeting December 25, 1637, on the division of marsh and meadow land. It lists his family as having 4 members. Mordecay Craford, his wife Judith and John Pride, all of Salem, mortgaged to Captain Thomas Savage of Boston the barque in which Captain Craford usually sailed, and one-half of the barque that Captain Pride goeth in and the produce of a fishing voyage, which said Craford was then undertaking, with two boats at Cape Nawagon, Dec. 27, 1661. "History of Salem" lists other Prides, but their relationship is not made clear: William Pride (Vol II, p. 360) is listed as commanding the "Blossom." Mary Pride (Vol II, p. 70) is listed as marrying John Lovett on March 5, 1694-95.
