Manning was born April 15, 1924 in Salt Lake City, UT, and passed away on July 18, 2006, in Phoenix, AZ. He moved to Phoenix in 1955 and has since been a resident of AZ. He also enjoyed spending time at his cabin in Tonto Village [near Payson], Arizona. He was predeceased by his parents William Thomas Manning and Catherine Young Dunn, two brothers William Jr. and Alex, two sisters Maxine and Catherine, two sons Robert and Jared, and one grandson. He is survived by his wife Elinor Emily Quillinan, children Christine, Susan (Chuck), and James, one daughter in-law Suzan, brother Russ (Hazel) Manning, 11 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren. He led a successful career as a pilot in the Air force, Air National Guard and commercial airline industry. Other than his family, his greatest joy came from serving others. He was given many opportunities to serve through his membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he served in many capacities. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, July 22, 2006 at the Scottsdale Camelback Stake Center, 2202 N. 74th St. in Scottsdale, with a viewing two hours prior (8:00 am - 9:45 am) to the services. Interment at Green Acres Mortuary & Cemetery, 401 N. Hayden Rd. in Scottsdale. Memorial contributions may be made to the LDS mission fund or the American Cancer Society. Arrangements were handled by Paradise Sunset Chapel Funeral Home. Published in The Arizona Republic from 7/20/2006 - 7/21/2006.
