YOUNG and Jane CAMPBELL family of West Chester, Chester, Pennsylvania: On the 1880 Census record, James W. YOUNG's wife is named Jane Ann YOUNG, the "Ann" being new information to myself. In addition to this, we know through oral family records that Jane's maiden surname was Campbell and that she was born in Ireland. Belfast, Ireland. Her census record agrees with that: Her relationship:W (wife), Age 38, Birthplace: Ireland. According to our family records, Jane Campbell would have been about 38 in 1880, as she too was "Born about 1843." Could it be that the Census version IS the correct version of the story? If so it would mean that James W. YOUNG was actually born in 1840, and his wife Jane was born in 1843. Sounds probable to me. It's too bad the Census questionaire in 1880 did not yet ask for the full dates of birth for each person, like our modern U.S. Census questionaires do.
