  1. David Monroe McCanless: Birth: 1760. Death: 1830

Notes
a. Note:   I am guessing that James's birthdate was about 1734 because he was not named the executor of his fathers will. I feel that if he had been 21 at the time of his fathers death, he would have
been designated. James and Jane McDowell McCanless had 7 children between 1754 and 1770. They sold the farm in Chester Co. PA and moved to Orange Co. NC in the fall of 1767. I feel
that the youngest two children, William and Elizabeth were born in NC. In Dec 1787 Jane McCanless recieved the sum of 2 pounds and 8 shillings from the State of NC for service done the state during the revolution by James McCanless. This
could have been for either her husband, James, or her son James. Her husband died in
1784 and her son James was mentioned in his will, but I can't find any mention of him
after that. James purchased 202 acres on the middle fork of the Little River in Orange Co. NC. According to todays maps there is no middle fork of the river. Only a North fork and a
South fork. Therefore, I have not been able to physically locate the land. [email protected]
