a. Note:   z Hilgert and that hek was born either in Lancaster Co., or Clarion Co., PA. He assisted his father in the construction business, engaging in lumber and stock, passing his entire life on a farm about four miles east of Rimersburg, Clarion Co., PA. He was a member of the Democratic Political Party and a member of the German Reformed Church to which his wife Mary Shick and her family also belonged. He was taken sick in Louisville, KY, died and was buried there. His father "Frederick" was by occupation a carpenter and contractor, and while yet a comparatively young man was killed by a fall during the construction of a building. There is very little recorded of his life, nor is it known whom he married or how numerous was his family.
