Besides his family, a nurse, and her son are also part of the household. This nurse's name appears to be "Eliza A Rozier", age 39, appears to be birthplace of Kentucky. With her is a son Fortuno Rozier, age 13, born in, my best guess is Texas, from the writing. This nurse was undoubtedly employed to care for Mary J. Thompson, who died a few months after this census was taken. 1900 Census: Alonzo J. Thompson is listed as living in Township 104 Range 71 Lyman Co. South Dakota, Roll 1551, ED 42 Sheet 4, Listed as head of household, living alone, renting. DOB listed as February 1825. Age 75. Lists self as widowed. Lists that he was married for 15 years. This is plausible in reference to Mary, or in reference to a possible 2nd wife. Says born Pennsylvania, father Scotland, Mother Pennsylvania. Occupation listed as Carpenter. Able to read, write, speak English. Says he was unemployed 6 months in the past year. No Alonzo fitting descrption in IL in 1900 Alonzo Thompson does *not* appear in the 1850 census index for Marion Co MO
