a. Note:   Listed as "wood carver" in 1880 Census Unclear if census taker simply assumed the Huhn children had taken their stepfather's name or not. We know Henry used his father's name on his marriage record, however. 1900 Census: Living at 10237 Prospect Ave. Chicago, Cook Co. Illinois. Lists both his parents as being born in Germany, occupation fire dept he, wife and two oldest children literate writers who speak English, oldest two in school. Listed that his home is owned and not mortgaged. Lists birthplace as PA Retired 2/28/1911 according to Ken Little, Historian, Chicago Fire Museum. Death Cert indicates, had been living at the place of his death for two years. This may indicate that they returned from Virginia in 1915.
