Note: A substantial case can be made to challenge Charles Krause's record on Minnie's death. He places the death on 9/30/1936 in Mundelein, Illinois. But, Illinois death records show a Minnie H Miller age 79, matching Minnie's year of birth from census and Krause records, dying on 9/30/1935, in Frement, LaSalle Co. Illinois. It seems there are too many coincidences for this not to be *our* Minnie Miller. I will leave the record as unknown for the time being 1870 Census: Living in Maine Township, Cook Co., IL. Age 13, born in IL. Listed as "at home" but having attended school in the past year. 1910 Census: Living at 1522 Orchard St, Chicago, Cook Co., IL. Curiously, listed as "boarder" and not aunt, living with Clara Schreiner Umenhofer. Listed as Minnie H. Miller, age 51 single. born IL, parents, Germany, no occupation. 1930 Census:: "Minnie Miller" age 72 found living at 2413 Lincoln Ave, Chicago. Listed as single, born IL, parents born in Germany. Listed as renting, for 60 dollars. Listed as head of household--with her are: Cousin, Anne Garicke, age 72, widowed. Born in IL, parents Germany, no occupation. "Lodger" Ernest Hayman age 28, born Germany as are parents, listed as Houseman apartment hotel"; Boarder John Stowe (possibly?) age 69 single born Germany as were parents, no occupation; and Mary Carston (possibly?) Lodger, age 60, widowed, born in Germany, as were parents, no occupation Taken April 3, 1930. Opens some possibilies on cousin angle. Roll 486 ED 1638 Page 2b 1930 Census. IL state records show a marriage between a Henry Gericke and an Anna Miller8/8/1889 in Cook Co. MUST be Zacharias's brother's kid!!! 1880 Census shows a Heinrich Gericke age 19 fitting the general profile. Death record for a Henry Gericke in 3/30/1918 in Chicago.
