a. Note:   Grad. from Upper Iowa University, Fayette, Iowa with BA in Math in 1928. Masters Degree from Colorado State College of Education in Greeley, Colorado. Martin served various Iowa schools as Principal and superintendent from 1928-39. In 1939, he joined the CCC as an educational adviser and left in 1942 to join the Navy. He received a commission as a Lt. (Jag) and held the rank of Lt. Comdr. at the time of discharge. He came to Seattle in 1945 and was a rating specialist for the Veterans Administration 21 years, retiring this month. Mr. Martin was a member of the Trinity Methodist Church, Masons, Scottish Rite bodies, Nile temple of the Shrine, and Veterans Administration Regional Office Employees Association(VAROE). He was an excellent craftsman and was known for his cabinet and working-an example of which is a grandmothers clock he completed last Sept. He was an enthusiastic bowler and had a 172 ave. Went to a dinner-dance Sat. evening with his wife & expired in his sleep early Sunday morning. His first Heart attack in 1953.
