Notes
a. Note:   In The 1840 Census For Breathitt County, Newton Is Listed As Head Of House, With 2 Sons Under 5, And 1 Daughter Under 5, The 2 Sons Are Probably Morten And Harkansis, Maybe The Daughter Under 5 Is Syntha, But I Have A Birth Date For Her As 3/4/1841, He Has 2 Women In The House Between 20 And 30, One Is Probably Elizabeth, No Explanation For The Second Woman, Couldn't Be A Sister To Newton, They Are All Married And Living With Their Families, Living Next Door Is A Thenny Angel, Whom Harkansis'es Son Ezekiel Morton Jett Say Is His Father Harkansis Jett's Mother, "Nathenny Angel Also Appears Next Door To Newton In The 1850 And 1860 Census" This Information Was Obtained From Harkansis'es Death Certificate, When He Died In 1916, It Reads, Name Of Father "Newton Jett" Name Of Mother "Jenny Angel" Jhenny Is Listed Next Door As Head Of House, She Has 4 Sons, 1 Under 5, 2 Between 5 And 10, And One Between 10 And 15, Jenny's Age Is Listed As Between 30 And 40, There Is No Older Male Listed That Could Be Her Husband, Could These Children Of Jenny Belong To Newton ? Could Jenny Also Be Native American ? She was also born In North Carolina as was Elizabeth, And possibly the second woman living in Newton's house be a sister of Elizabeth "Betsy" Cloud--------------------------------------- I spelled Harkansis this way because In the obit of Ezekiel Morton Jett, It says he was the son of Harkansis Jett, An early settler of War Creek In Breathitt County. There are many unanswered questions, Given the time period one would think that maybe Newton took the women off the Trail Of Tears, as they were being relocated to indian territory, From what I've read the farmers along the route to the Indian territories were taking the young Indian maidens off the trail for their wives, Are there any suggestions ? If I had to bet, I'd bet that Newton might just be the father of all of Jenny's children,
