a. Note:   s always in the kitchen baking sugar cookies or dunking butter bread in her coffee. She never drove a car and briskly walked everywhere, swinging her arms as she walked. Every year after Midnight Mass at St. Mary's Church we would all walk, through the snow, to her house for a meal of pork and grits. And of course sugar cookies!!!! Our Christmas gift were oranges, apples and, of course, sugar cookies!! In her last days we were called to Maria Joseph Nursing Home several times and the priest would be there also for her Last Rites. Once, as soon as he was done, she opened her eyes and said "Fooled you, didn't I." Well, that was one of many times she fooled us. Grandma lost her teeth there and it was discovered too late that they were buried with her roomie. She gave us many laughs and many happy memories. Mary Downing Mahan 2/2006 Obituary Dayton Daily News: Clune, Mrs. Elizabeth, age 91, formerly of 814 Steele Avenue, passed away on Wednesday. She was a member of the St. Anns society of St. Mary's Church and was a member of the Dayton Catholic Womens Club. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Marie Downing of Kettering and Mrs. Betty Gierus of Dayton; two sons, LeRoy H. and daughter-in-law, Irene of Dayton, Edward R. and daughter-in-law, Lorraine of Turlock, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Josephine Fanback of Fla; 4 brothers, Leo and John Schaefer of Dayton, Raymond of Tulsa, Okla. and Aaron in Calif. Also survived by 15 grandchildren, 56 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. Prayer service at 9:30am Saturday at the Westbrock Funeral Home. Mary Downing Mahan 2006
