Notes
a. Note:   e in America. Although I could never find his parents, I did locate Jacob in the 1870 census, working as a baker and living with his employer. He had a brother, Adam, and a sister, Christina, both born in America. I have found a John, Mary and Jacob Young on the Margaret Evans Ship sailing from London, England to the USA. Arriving May 19, 1853. Microfilm # M237; Roll 125; List# 401; Line 45. Arrived in New York. Wilhelmina Antoinetta, she used the name Antoinetta on census records and their marriage license, so I will call her Antoinetta hereafter. She was born on November 14, 1854 in Midway, Madison county, Ohio, a small, quaint Farming community. She was one of seven children. One sister died in infancy and one at the age of 23 of consumption. Her parents suffered many hardships and heartbreaks, not only did Jane lose two children, she also lost her husband, John H. Peters, at the age of 56. Jacob and Antoinetta must have met when he moved to Ohio, I am sure she was never in New York. They married in Madison, Ohio on August 27, 1874. Jacob was a shoe cobbler and they moved from county to county, finding new business for his trade. I have been able to follow their travels to a great extent. I first found them living in Fayette county, Ohio. They had a daughter, Eldora, born in 1875. Then the next ten years were of sorrow to them. They lost three baby boys to the ravaging disease, diphtheria. The first baby was Oliver, aged 3 years, 7 months. The second baby, Charles F. died at the age of 3 months, both of these babies were born and died in Fayette county. Next I found them in the 1880 census living in Paint township, Ohio. Antoinetta's mother, Jane G. Oliver-Peters, was living with them at that time along with little Eldora. By the time this census was taken they had already lost two baby boys and Antoinetta was pregnant with their 3rd son who would be born in October. Baby Edmun was born October 19, 1880 and died the day after Christmas in 1884. He was 2 years old. On May 8, 1886 they were blessed with a baby girl that they named Lizzie May. She was my grandma. She preferred to use Elizabeth as her name and did so in her adult years. Both Eldora and Elizabeth led long lives filled with many children. When Lizzie was a little past 1 year old her mommy died on July 8, 1887. I cannot imagine the heartbreak that Jacob was enduring to have buried a wife and 3 babies in a period of 11 years. Jacob remarried in 1889. He and his wife, Sarah Rebecca Starr, became parents of 3 baby girls, losing their firstborn in infancy. Jacob died July 10, 1905. Thus ending a life of happiness and sorrow. Note:   TRAGIC LIVES Jacob was born in Germany, January 1, 1851. He immigrated to America, with his parents, John and Mary, in 1853, landing in New York. Imagine their excitement at the chance for a new lif
