a. Note:   John stark Alderson was a Revolutionary War Veteran. We believe he migrated to Maury County,Tennessee from Lancaster County, Virginia. His middle name is the maiden name of his paternal grandmother. John died in Maury County in 1819. There is a John S. Alderson listed on the 1820 Census for Columbia Maury Co. TN. This could be his son. Bryan Family History says John migrated from Lancaster County. Virginia, this would seem accurate since the Legal Power of Attorney over his land in Virginia was recorded in Lancaster County. Virginia. The Alderson name is listed on Maury Web page as an early name connected with "Water Valley Community".
