a. Note:   Hill Co. TX census for 1880 and 1900 records John Franklin Revier's birthplace as Kentucky. The 1900 census is mistakenly transcribed as "John W. Revier". 1910 Census Whitney, Hill County TX lists John F. and his wife, Margaret, with their sons, John, Paul, and Thomas. If you search for this census on Ancestry.com, the last name is missplelled "Revie". Some information was gained from an Application for his military pension. His wife filed for the pension after he died. The application, filled out and signed by his widow, Margaret Revier, for his confederate pension shows his death as June 22, 1916. This application also states they married Sept. 12, 1865 in Hickman Co. TN. According to the application the last name was sometimes "Reseur" The application gives information from the War Department regarding his military service. It states he served in Capt. G. M. V. Kinsere's Company (D), 2nd Battalion (Biffle's) Tennessee Cavalry, Confederate States Army. He served 3-4 years and was discharged June 5, 1861. He would have been only 17 years old when discharged. The application also states his widow, Margaret, does not own any land or a home as of 1930. His death certificate has very little information.
