Note: son of John and Sarah Florance, circumstantial evidence suggests a relationship. One of the witnesses to the wedding of Jane Clarke and George Florance was George Whiting. A Christianing record in Portsea, Southampton dated 3 years prior to...a "like" record for George Florance was discovered. This suggest a childhood friendship. The second piece of evidence has George Florance being Christianed at Portsea with parents names: John and Sarah Florance. Thirdly, based on the location of George's wedding which was very near Portsea at Gosport, strongly suggests that he was from the area. The fact that a "George Florance" was Christianed in 1815 suggests the likelihood that the George Florance who was married in 1834 in Gosport is the same person based on approximate age. The final piece evidence is in the exact spelling of the name "George Florance" on the church records for Portsea and for Gosport. The only piece of evidence which possibly contradicts the above evidence is the fact that a much older, James Florance, age 69 was found living next to the family in Kent, England in 1841.
