a. Note:   from a book of poems written by Edward and assembled by his son, Glenn. Edward played a intergral part in the development of NW Minnesota. Because of Edward's apparent excellent business accuman, the bank he managed in Humboldt was the only bank (First State Bank of Humboldt) in the county which was able to survive the Great Depression. The bank in Humboldt was held up at gun-point twice. The secondrobbery was executed by bank robbers from Canada, but the money was quickly recovered in Grand Forks, ND. The bank operation was later moved to Hallock, MN.
