 On 13 Jul 1846, Ambrose W. Banks of Pasquotank Co., NC sold Ambrose White for $25 land on Symon's Creek. This was a fourth interest in this land inherited from his father Enoch Banks, deceased. Ambrose was able to sign with a signature. (Pasquotank Co., NC Deeds Bk FF, p 342. LDS reel 944483)

 1853 marriage of Ambrose W. Banks and Pharbia W. Hollowell from Intl. Genealogical Index, batch M516002, p 2827 - extractions of county marriage records.

 In estate papers of James Banks, Pasquotank Co., NC, now in N. Carolina State Archives, Ambrose W. Banks and James W. Hinton were initially listed as administrators of the estate, but Hinton was soon sole administrator. Ambrose W. Banks owed the estate a considerable amount of money, and Hinton soon asked for a sale of slaves to meet debts. By 1871, 100 acres were still part of the estate and W. G. Pool was a new administrator. Purchasers at the estate sale in 1856 included "widow," A. W. Banks, Martha Banks and T. F. Banks. One document states A. W. was the brother of the deceased James Banks.
