a. Note:   e 1880 census. No records of birth or death have been found to date. Both Census forms indicate he was born in Pennsylvania, and that his parents were born in Pennsylvania. Christian matching this description was not found in 1850 census, when he would have been 20 years old, and possibly married to Catherine.
  Christian was apparently married to Catherine (unknown) prior to his marriage to Sarah Reppert. Marraige would have been before 1854 baptism of son John Henry. The baptism records for the older children were found in the Trinity Lutheran Church records, in Berks County, but no marriage records for Catherine were noted in the years prior to the baptism. No burial notice was found for Catherine, and all church records for the Bentz family stop after birth of Charles.
  No marraige record for Christian's marriage to Sarah were found in the Trinity Lutheran records of the period. Marriage would probably have been around 1860/61. No baptism records for the younger children were found in the Trinity Lutheran records in the appropriate time period.
