Note: REFN: 173313 Baptist Preacher in the Missionary Baptist Church. Joseph and Jemina mov ed to Newton Co., Mo., and when the war broke out he moved his family furt her south. Joseph was a soldier of the CSA and after the war he movedh is family to Washburn, Barry Co., MO., Joseph owned a store and was al so a minister in the Missionary Baptist Church. He later moved to Pier ce Cityand finally to Pardy where he died. Goodspeed's 1888 History of Barry Co., states that while he was a reside nt of Pierce City he took an active part in building the Baptist Collag e. He was its first financial agent, and secured for it $35,000 in subsc riptions. He has been a minister for more than 25 years, and is now enga ged in local missionary work, having retired from merchandising.
