Notes
a. Note:   REFN: 227 Address:<ADDR> Brisbane; Queensland Mum never has very said anything bad about Dad, only that what happend bet ween them was between them. Mom passed away here at home she had lived with my family for about 5 yea rs she had been sick for about 5 weeks refusing to go to hospital wanti ng to go here she died with me holding her hand she smiled and we nt to sleep Read by her Grandson Paul D Denton On behalf of the family I would like to Thank you all for coming here tod ay to show your condolences for Daphne Joyce Denton who was a mother, gran dma, great grandma, and a beloved friend. Grandma was not amaterialist ic woman. But one who valued family and the simple pleasures, who was n ot afraid to speak her mind or voice her opinions of people and enjoyed li fe. Although the people who knew her best, saw her as a kind, loving, gene rous, family-orientated woman who had a heart of gold. She always enjoyed having a good laugh and thinking of new jokes to tel l, like when Grandma, Aunt Diana, and Dad saw a flower called the bleedi ng heart, she automatically grabbed her heart and pretended to fall ove r. Or I can remember when she would argue with the cat about who would g et most of the bed, and most of the time though the cat would win. Whenev er you would check on grandma to see if she was asleep or not and accident ally woke her she would look at you and say I was just merely resti ng my eyes. Even if she had been asleep for an hour or more. She was extremely proud of her family and would always tell her frien ds of accomplishments and achievements that they had made in their live s. She loved being a grandma and a great grandma and loved having them aro und her. Iremember grandma coming over and just sitting and talking, play ing cards or on rare occasions getting in her bra and underwear and goi ng swimming at Dads home. Her return to America in 1994 was the highlight for the rest of her lif e, having renewed old friendships and meeting new and seeing old family me mbers again that she had not seen for most of her life. She enjoyed her daily outings and bus trips with her friends to see new pl aces, catch up, gossip,or just to get out of the house for the day. Wh en Grandma first got the phone she said she would never use it, but as ti me passed it was easier to visit her than to try and call her. I spent a l arge portion of my childhood, at grandmas as mum and dad were working, a l ot of the time. She would take me out on bus rides to see the city, and i ncluded me into her daily routines of bingo or the occasional movie. I alw ays looked forward to staying until late withgrandma, and Uncle Les as s he would make me pork chops and wafer thin potatoes, which no one has be en able to copy the way she cooked them to this day. Grandma was a person who preferred the old ways and was not open to chan ge easily, once her mind was set. I can remember her old wooden laundry t rolley that would squeak, but refused to get rid of it because it was sti ll serviceable. Or her old wringer washing machine, instead of replaci ng it for a new modern machine that would take half the time, she insist ed on keeping it. Although she did not approve of the clothing and attitud es of the children today, she realized that everyone was different and acc epted them for who they were. Grandma was the type of person that enjoyed lending a hand and adding h er input as she saw it, like times when my sisters would get stuck in a co mputerprogram, they would go and tell grandma the predicament they were i n, and she would always offer suggestions to help even though she would ha ve no idea of what you were talking about. Even though Grandma was a pers on to lend a hand, she always preferred people to offer more, than just wa iting for her to ask, or contact them, whether it be trimming her mango tr ee to paying her back money. Sympathy emails from Family overseas Don
