Note: info states this comes from the Laban Odom Bible. Another place states the death chart/certificate states birth date is 24 JAN 1842. From information from Mrs. Lessie Odom: Elmina was sister of Flavius. She was born in 1842 and did not marry until 1866, so at the time of Flavius' letters she was living at home with their parents. She evidently wrote often to her four brother in the Conf Army. Flavius J. and Francis Asbury survived, but brothers Washington Green (Died of typhoid fever) and Bej Franklin (killed at Petersburg) did not. From information from Mrs. Sheryl Seymour: Story handed down that Elmina dreamed three of her brothers died in the war-can only find proof that two died, although Francis may have died later of wounds-can find no later records of Jordon or Flavious. From family conversations with Lucille Royal Minor and Kathleen Royal Perry, state Elmina wore long dresses, a black checked apron tied around her waist which stretched as long as her dress. She held a clay pipe in her mouth which hung upside down at times unlit. As related to Melanie Beard on 9-13-1991. A copy of a photo of Elmina (Oglesby) Royal (1842-1927) is attached to this information received from Mrs. Lessie Odom.
