a. Note:   Story found in "Descendents of Abraham Heiney" (Ft. Wayne) Jacob emigrated at age 17 and brother Sebastian (15). Redemptioners or Indentured servants. Brother sold into service in Baltimore(believed he returned to Germany). Jacob brought to Lancaster. Acc to "Warfel and Allied Families" the port of Baltimore did not keep records. Appears on tax roles before revolution.
 Served in 4th PA Artillery (Penn's Artillery). Lineage Book: DAR - Indiana 1900 pg 114-117. Four women claim him as ancestor. ***Artillery served under Col Thomas Proctor and participated in the battles of Bound Brook, Brook. Brandywine and Germantown, at Monmouth and in Sullivan's expedition in 1779. 4th PA is Proctors Regiment and 4th Continental Line and can be found with full list of all who were in the regiment throughout the war inc Jacob Hiney cf PA Archives 5th Series Vol III pg 1019. Muster records are not available for this regiment which would determine exactly what engagements Jacob was present for duty. Molly Pitcher is associated with this regiment. DAR online list of Rev soldiers does not have Jacob as of 07-03. He made shoes for the soldiers.***
 Jacob Heiney's index card found on flickr.com conradh's photostream. It included three pay receipts. for service rendered. Jacob private in 4th artillery.(1) Paid 9 Apr 1785 $80 - period of service not given. (2) Paid Apr 9 1785 $50.75 for services rendered to 3 Nov 1783. (3) Paid Apr 9, 1784 $75 for services in 1782 till 1 Jan 1783. Proctor resigned as Col in Apr 1781. Andrew Porter would become Col after 13 Mar 1782. After Yorktown 19 Oct 1781 regiment divided. Three companies with Gen Greene in SC. The rest stationed at Ft Pitt, Phila, Lancaster and Carlisle during the Cease fire. By 11 June in 1783 all were furloughed. Last mustered out 15 Nov - Jacob out 3 Nov.
 1798 Direct Tax list of Conestoga Twp gives full description of property inc log cabin. Farm is reported later to be part of the Warfel farm (from Ellis and Evans). Probate and Inventory on death exists. (Geo Warfel settled in Conestoga about 1715 and he had four sons. He came thru port of Baltimore) "Warfel and Allied Families" by SL Warfel has no reference to Heiney's.
 08-02 internet source proposes his father is named John. Palatine Immigrant Vol 8 #4 p.191 gives name of wife as Maria or Magdalena Diffenbach. He arrived around 1750.
 Bridges Atlas of Lanc Co gives David Heiney owning land where bridge crosses Pequea into Martic Twp. Warfel Farm is about a half mile to the NW.

 1790 Fed Census Conestoga with four sons under sixteen.

 1807 Conestoga Taxes - owns 49 acres, shoemaker.

  02-04 Searching deeds sold to son Joseph two acres on 15 April 1796. Piece of land boarders Isaac Breneman. Y - 3- 344. Deed refers to original plot of 51 acres bought by Jacob from Jno Neidigh on 15 Jun 1773. Deed says Jacob Heiney was known as Jacob Hayning (also Henning) in the deed. O - 583. Neighbors Michael Hoverstick and wife Catherine, Jacob Stoner and his wife Catherine, and Isaac "Prinnamans."
  09/05 search of National Archives Federal Pensions showed no records for A Jacob Heiney or Hiney.
 03/06 Mention in 'Lost Palatine' a query from 1983 - no new info have printout.
 The Palatine Immigrant Gives most of Jacob Family - David is listed as married to Stern.
 03/06 Palatine Families of 1710 (This is three volumes of Palatines in Mohawk Valley. These are families that moved to PA in 1723 and after and some stayed there. ) John George Heine came with firt group leaving 13 May 1723.
