Notes
a. Note:   After arriving in America in 1839 Harmon settled in Allegheny County, the Cumberland area. He spent a few years in Preston County, Virginia (W.V.) We know that by the birth records that Alphonsus was born in West Virginia. Census records also show that George F. was born in W.V. Calculating birth dates it would indicate that the Borgman family lived in Preston County between the years of 1865 to before 1880. The 1870 census shows the Borgmans living in West Virginia, Kingswood District. The 1880 census report shows that they were living on Mechanic Street in Cumberland. Md. The Obituary for Harmon states that he was a much respected carpenter and mechanic. He may have tried the coal mining business or may have been the carpenter who built the homes for the miners in West Virginia the later being my guess. He had been a member of St. Peter and Paul Church on Fayette Street from 1848 when the church was built until his death in 1904. Death Certificate microfilm # SR4006.
