We have been unable to locate a grave in the cemetery although there are a large number of stones that are unreadable. There are stones for a George May who died Aug.19, 1833---13 day is also readable on this stone. Rebecca G. May 1796-1879, Wilhelmina L. May 1824- 1896 and a W.L. May with no dates. Wilhelmina May was the daughter of Rebecca May. According to land records and will records Rebecca May was the copyright owner of the Hagerstown Almanac. In her will she left all her estate to Wilhelmina including the copyright to the Almanac. At this time I have not found the connection to our May family. Census records for 1850 list George F. Land records in Washington County Liber McKK 55 Folio 190 shows that George Frederick May and his wife Margaret Louisa May sold for the sum of one dollar to John Frederick May a parcel of land that was in the Hagers Addition of Elizabethtown ( now Hagerstown) on July 16, 1872. The property was 40 feet by 102 feet and a part of 6 pacels 40 feet by 102 feet deeded to George Frederick May on March 29, 1856 by David Artz. The property was located on Church Street and ran south along Jackson Lane being 102 feet by 240 feet. George Frederick then divided the land into 6 equal plots of 40 x 102 feet to be distributed to his children upon his death. Plots number 1 through 6 fronted Jackson Lane. Running north to south from Church Street to an alley. A will dated July 16, 1872 describes these parcels of land and is specific as to which child receives a particular lot. John Frederick May was deeded Lot number 2. The will is located in Washington County Liber F folio 657, the will was put in for probate on November 16, 1875. To his wife he left his home which was deeded to him on August 18, 1857 from Samuel Gachtel. Upon her death the home was to be sold at public auction and the proceeds divided equally share and share alike. If his youngest son was not age 21 when his mother died then one hundred dollars was to be put into a trust bearing interest until he reached age 21. This was to be paid from the sale before they divided the money,
