Note: Obituary for Samuel Grosh states he died from apoplexy at the age of 62. He was a native of Clearspring district and formerly lived in Big Pool. He had been a resident of Williamsport for 15 years and at one time was employed on the Western Maryland repairs and later at Byron's Tannery. His wife the former Miss Louisa Tice of Green Spring Furnace, survives him. His daughters Mrs. William Sharer and Mrs. Jennie Robinson and a son Howard at home. His brothers Charles of Dry Run, Andrew of Green Spring, Thomas of Big Pool; Abram and William of Downsville and a sister Mrs. Sallie Tice also survive him. The funeral was held at the Methodist Church and interment in Riverview Cemetery. In the 1880 census Samuel lists his occupation as boatman and his birth place as Md. as well as his parents. In 1900 he list his occupation as laborer at the Tannery. In 1900 he lists his parents birth place as Germany for his father and mother as Pa. Death Certificate microfilm SR3983 from Maryland State Archives lists cause of death as cronic Meningitis. The certificate lists his father as being born in Funkstown, Md.
