To this union was born seven children, five sons and two daughters, Clive R., Armol H., Otho, Paul E., Opal E., Velma and Charlotte. All were born and reared in Appleton, Arkansas.

  Pope County History Vol. II:
Little is known of the family of George Smith for he came to Arkansas at an early age and in 1880 was living with his grandfather, P. H. Brant. (Sr.) George was listed as being three years of age and being born in New Jersey. His father was in New York and his mother in Pennsylvania. When they arrived in Pope County, they settled in the New Hope Community north of the Crossroads cemetery near Appleton. He grew up in this area and attended school at the New Hope School. He was born on September 21, 1877 and died at Pottsville, Arkansas November 14, 1960. He was married to Dora Lemley, daughter of R. M. and Margaret Chamber Lemley, pioneers of Pope County, February 27, 1895. They lived in the Appleton area for a few years, later moving to south of Pottsville where they resided until their death. Mr. Smith followed farming for a livelyhood. He and Dora were the parents of six children: 1. Elise Smith b.May 18, 1897 d. Dec. 25, 1975; 2. Eva Smith, b. Nov. 27, 1898 d.May 11, 1961. 3. Emmett Smith, b. June 16, 1903 d. Aug. 16, 1978 in Phoenix, Az.; 4. Cecil Smith, b. March 13, 1907. (Note: Cecil passed away in recent years. He wrote the article for the Pope Co. Hist. Vol. II)
From the newspaper: Rev. P.H. Brant of Appleton was stricken with paralysis while in the field at work on Thursday, May 11, 1893. He was taken to the house and lingered until the following Sunday when he died. (Source: Janie Armendariz) ===================================================== Several of the children of Peter H. and Mary V. Sinclair are buried in Appleton Cemetery. But there is no listing for Peter or Mary in this cemetery. (My note; Janie Armendariz thinks they are buried there, but without markers.)
Mary Brant in the 1900 census is listed as a widow, born Nov. 1846, living in Center Township with 2 daughters and a son-in-law. She is listed as being the mother of 4 children and 4 children living.
In the 1910 Pope County Census Mary is living with her son-in-law, Wesley W. Lemley, and his family in Center Township. Mary A. Brant is 69 years old, a widow, mother of 2 children, 1 still living.
