Note: I am sure you know the story about the Osburns....Daddy delighted in telling it. Uncle Victor borrowed "Uncle" Steve Osburn's shotgun on the pretense of going hunting. Then, when he was certain the poor old man was unarmed, he walked all through the Osburn cornfields ringing a cowbell. It was evening and too dark for the poor fellow to see what was going on. He only "knew" that cows were destroying his corn crop and he had no firearm to get them out with.....weren't those Hale boys just too onery? from my cousin Carolyn. The Advance Reporter 1 September 1960 Victor Hale Funeral Service for Victor Hale, 61, of Hale Town was held Saturday at 2 p.m. in Union Hill Cemetery with Rev. Harmon Allen officiating. Burial at Union Hill Cemetery was under direction of Rice Funeral Home. Mr. Hale died suddenly at his home Thursday. Survivors include his wife, Frances; two sons, Jimmy and Joe, both of the home; four brothers, Roy, Oscar, Audie, and Lloyd, all of Hale Town; and one grandchild. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- I had Decemer 3, 1898 as his birthdate, but now I'm unsure if that is correct or where I got that. Looks like now from my cousin Vicki: "Uncle Victor's birthday was either December 3rd or 4th. My son, Patrick, was born on the 3rd of December and I think that was the anniversary of Uncle Victor's birth. Vickie was named for Uncle Victor and I believe her birthday was just a day or two off his. You probably have the correct information. Good to hear from you. Carolyn
