J.W. SCRIBNER KILLED BY PASSING CAR
John William Scribner, 55 year old Grapevine disabled World War 1 veteran, was killed instantly when struck by an auto three miles east of Irving on Highway 356 about 2 p.m. Sunday.
Scribner was standing behind his auto, which he had parked on the side of the road, when another car, driven by a 19-year old Dallas youth, plowed into him.
The victim and two of his children, Leslie 12, and Doyle, 10 had been to Dallas to pick up an ice box and were returning to Grapevine. Apparently Scribner had gotten out of his automobile to tie the ice box more securely to the rear of his car, officers said.
Scribner was wedged between the two autos. Death resulted from head, leg and internal injuries.
