a. Note:   This Cubage family came to Arkansas from Indiana sometime after 1840 and were living in Ecore Fabre Township of Ouachita County in 1850. In 1860 all three sons were living in Behestian Township, near Tates Bluff on the Ouachita River. All three of the sons were in the Civil War. George the first to enlist, at Okalona, Clark County, Arkansas, January 1862 in Co. F 6th Arkansas Infantry. He died with Measels at Tupelo, Mississippi, July 1862. William enlisted next at Camden, Arkansas February 8, 1863 in Co. D. 33rd Arkansas Infantry. He was listed as a nurse in the hospital at Monroe, Louisiana July 21, 1863. John also enlisted in the 33rd Arkansas Infantry May 25, 1863. No further record has ever been found for John. George's wife Tabitha asked for and received a pension July 12, 1892. Her pension was increased to $100.00 per year in 1901. her address was at Barham, Arkansas at this time. The last check was sent to her in August 1909. On the Voucher Book at the History Commission, Little Rock, Arkansas, a notation reads " Dead, William R. Cubage, legal rep". In an obituary for daughter Margaret it states that the family came to Ouachita County in 1845.
