Note: Thomas Neal and family came to Ouachita County, Arkansas after 1846 and before 1850. They were living in Missouri Township when the 1850 census was taken. Their youngest child, Thomas was two years old and was born in Arkansas. Elizabeth who was just older was born in about 1846 in Mississippi. When the 1860 and 1870 census were taken they were living in Jackson Township, Ouachita County, Post Office, Caney. Nevada County was created in 1870 out of a part of Ouachita County and Jackson township became a part of Nevada County. July 1, 1857 Thomas received a land patent for 80 acres in ENW, Sec. 8 Twp. 13S. R. 20 W. ; again Sept. 1, 1860 he received land in the NNE, Sec. 7, Twp. 13S, R. 20 W, 120 acres; then again in April 1861 he received 40 acres in SWNE, Sec. 7, Twp. 13 S, R. 20 W. This land adjoined and when put together it consisted of the NE 1/4 of Sec. 8 and the NE 1/4 Sec. 7 also the NW 1/4 , SW 1/4 Sec. 8, all in Tws. 13S R. 20 W.,Ouachita County, Arkansas, 360 acres in all. Thomas must have died after 1870 and before 1880, his wife Lucinda was living in Prescott with her son Thomas when the census for 1880 was taken. No record of where Thomas is buried has been found
