a. Note:   Phillip Jefferson Pickett served in Co. D. 33rd Arkansas Inf. during the Civil War. He joined at Red Hill June 14, 1862 Captain J. B. Ponder was the enlisting officer. When the war ended the 33rd was with General Kirby Smith at Marshal, Texas. Smith would not surrender, so Phillip Jefferson along with several others deserted. Phillip went to Citronelle, Alabama where he met and married Mary Ann. After the birth of their first son William, and while Mary Ann was pregnant with their second child, they came back to Arkansas. Phillip died before the second child was born and is buried in Missouri Cemetery. Mary Ann brought with her an old maid sister Mahalia Harold, who later married William C. Lee.
