a. Note:   Thomas J. McMurrain served in the Confederate Army Co. D. 37th Ark. Inf. from Hillsboro, Arkansas. He is buried in an unmarked grave in Laron Cemetery off highway 15 near ElDorado, Arkansas. Found on the 1850 Musckogee County Georgia census, son of John and Lydia McMurrain. He signed a deed dated December 13, 1855 for his interest in two hundred two and one half acres of land lying in lot no. 159, district twenty nine of Sumpter County, Georgia. This land was sold to his sister Lydia J,Y. Dixon wife of Thomas B. Dixon for $1,200.00. A copy of this deed can be found in the Court House in Americus. The Georgia census of 1870 lists Thomas and Emily living with a 13 year old boy named Andrew J. Clem. He was a nephew of Thomas, the son of Martha.
