a. Note:   He was found on the 1840 census for St. Clair County, Alabama and again he and his family were found on the 1850 census for Talladega County, Alabama. He was a member of the Cropwell Lodge No 247 in St. Clair County, Alabama. Francis enlisted in Company D 13th Alabama Regiment Confederate Army in 1862. After the war he returned to St. Clair County Alabama where he continued farming until he moved to Howard County, Arkansas in 1878. He lived in Howard County for seven years, then moved to New Hope in Pike County where he farmed and operated a store in the late 1880s. He is buried in Pleasant Grove Cemetery near Newhope in Pike County, Arkansas Francis was married three times and was the father of 17 children.
