Notes
a. Note:   This obituary was found in the family bible of Margaret's granddaughter. it is thought to be from the Mt. Ida paper. the year 1909. Mrs Margaret Jane wife of Uncle Obe Sandlin of this place died Friday, April 9, and was buried the day following in the Mount Ida cemetery. The Rev. J.J. Mckinon conducting the funeral service. Mrs Sandlin was the daughter of John and Elizabeth Cubageand sister of Dr. Cubage, formerly well known here. She was born in Indiana in 1840and moved with her parents to Ouachita Co. Arkansas in 1845 and made her home in the county near Camden for several years. At the age of 17 she married John Pitman; of this union three children were born to her, two of whom died in infancy and the other Daniel now lives near Buckville. At the close of the war she joined her husband at Little Rock but shortly after their removal there Mr. Pitman died and she moved back to Ouachita County, where a year and a half later she married Joseph Jones, who lived only 11 months after the marriage. One child was born to her of this marriage, Mrs. Margaret Graves, who now lives at Faber, Hot Springs Co., Ark. At the death of Mr. Pitman Mrs. Sandlin professed a hope in Christ and sometime later she joined the Missionary Baptist church, and she remained in this church a faithful Christian worker until her death. Shortly after her second husbands death she moved from Ouachita county to Mt. Ida, but she remained here but a short time moving to a homestead near Silver, where in 1873 she married Obadiah Sandlin who survives her. Of this marriage four children, one of whom died in infancy, were born, the others Mrs. Maomi Priddy, Ruth and Mrs Electa Easley live here. The family lived on the old home near Silver from 1860 up to about three years ago, when they moved back to Mount Ida, where she died and the family lives at the present. She was the mother of twenty-one children, but only eight of this number were her own. She was laid to rest by the side of her brother, Dr. Cubage, and one of her sisters, where she will await the call on that day when it is written " the dead shall come forth." This was copied from an E-Mail that I received from Elizabeth Cearley Moore. Feb. 16, 2000.
