Note: 1900? - Champion athlete for Leeds Harriers 1914 - 18 Served in France was badly injured by German shell shattering his shin.After dark he was recovered from nomans land and was shot in the backside by a German sniper.Army doctors wanted to remove his leg saying "lose your leg or die" but he chose to take the gamble. Served his apprentiship as butcher at Leeds Co-Op. 1933 - Living in Crimscott Street 1935 - Attended funeral of S.Curtis at Hull Road Methodist Church Withernsea.
