NOTICE IN THE SUNDERLAND ECHO. DEATH OF FORMER P.C. A former constable in Sunderland Borough Police force died in a Surrey hospital yesterday aged 76. He retired from the Sunderland force in 1928 after serving 26 years and moved to Richmond Surrey in 1938. Mr Overend a native of Middlesbrough was in the army for more than ten years and saw service in the first world war. While in Sunderland he was well known as a swimmer and was actively connected with local soccer. He leaves a widow,four sons and two daughters. Buried in Barnes Cemetary Lower Grove Road
