Note: Feb. 20, 1940 GOLDEN WEDDING OBSERVED TUESDAY Mr. and Mrs. A.A. Nordgren Have Spent Most of Their Life in and Near Anthony Tuesday, February 20, marked the fiftieth wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. A.A. Nordgren of 515 S. Jennings. The couple was married on February 20, 1890, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Gehring, east of Anthony, where O.M. Gehring now resides. The ceremony was performed by Judge Blackburn. Mr and Mrs Nordgren lived on the Springer farm for about a year and then moved to Anthony where Mr. Nordgren worked for the Allen brothers' confectionery. Later, Mr. Nordgren opened the "English Kitchen" where the Swinson Motor company now is located. Mr. Nordgren made the "run" into the Cherokee Strip in September of 1893 and obtained city lots in Enid, Oklahoma. Mr and Mrs Nordgren left Enid in 1896 and moved to Brooklyn, N.Y., where they went into business. They returned to Anthony in 1908 where they have since resided. Three children have been born to the Nordgrens. They are W.S. Nordgren, city mail carrier, and comander of the Lewis F. Tuttle post of the American Legion; Alfred Nordgren, proprietor of the Orient cafe; and Mrs. William Hill, all of Anthony. The grandchildren are Dorotha Ann Nordgren, Wilma Bursch, Bobbie Bursch, Rosalee Bursch, Joe Hill, and Willie Hill. Both Mr. and Mrs. Nordgren are 74 years of age.
