Notes
a. Note:   NORDGREN-BURSCH The wedding ceremony, which united in holy matrimony, Mr. Samuel W. Bursch and Miss Gladys Nordgren, both of this city, was recited by Rev. H.W. Cummings at the Methodist parsonage, last Monday afternoon. The groom has lived in this city during the past year, and has made many warm friends here. He is a very excellent young man. His parents live in Buffalo, Kansas. The bride has been reared here in Anthony and is one of the very popular young ladies of the community. She was educated in our High School. Her parents are well known here, having lived here since an early day. The newly married couple left immediately for a short honey-moon trip, after which they will make their home in Garber, Oklahoma, where Mr. Bursch has employment. Their many firends wish them a long and happy life. Anthony Republican -- Feb. 2, 1920 *********** OBITUARY Death of Sam Bursch Samuel Bursch, son of Mr. and Mrs. F.G. Bursch, died in Oklahoma City Sunday afternoon about 5 o'clock from peritonitis. Mr and Mrs Dan Bursch took Mr F.G. Bursch to Tulsa Sunday night, where he went by bus to Oklahoma City. He arrived home with the body of his son Wednesday morning. Funeral services will be held at the Buffalo Mission at 2:30 this afternoon (Friday). Rev. McMullen, of Ottawa, will have charge of the services. Mrs Sam Bursch and the three children will not reach Buffalo until Friday morning, we are informed. Miss May Bursch and Charles Bursch were expected from California Thursday. The Buffalo Blade, Friday, May 29, 1931 *********** OBITUARY Samuel Welker Bursch, son of F.G. and C. Salome Bursch, born April 5, 1899 near Havelock, Nebraska; and died Sunday, May 24, 1931, at his home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, aged 32 years, 1 month, 19 days. His early days and school years were spent largely at Buffalo, Ks. tho partly in Brooklyn, N.Y., Oklahoma and Nebraska. He was united in marriage to Miss Gladys Nordgren of Anthony, Ks. Feb. 2, 1920. To this union three children were born; Wilma Arline, 10 yrs. of age; Robert Samuel, 5 and Rosa Lee 3; who remain to mourn their loss, besides his parents, four brothers: Daniel M. of Buffalo; Charles W. and James F. of Sacramento, Cal.; Frederick J. W. of Los Angeles, Cal.; and three sisters: Miss A. May, of Sacramento; Susie Salome Lorimor, of Frankfort, Ind.; and Miss Frances Helen, of Buffalo. Samuel was brought up in a Christian home, at the knees of a faithful mother. At the age of 16 he was converted to God, declaring that the old-time religion was good enough for him. But like too many getting out into the world he began to drift away from God. The least that we can do is to cover him with this mantle of charity and trusting that while in his last affliction his Creator heard the many prayers that ascended from faithful hearts in his behalf, and had mercy upon him. Sam is gone. He has taken the long trail of eternity. We will miss the warm hand-shake, and the friendly smile will greet us no more. He was generous, tender-hearted, whole souled and was loved by all who knew him. His loved ones and relatives truly appreciate the assistance rendered and sympathy shown by his many kind friends, and for the respect shown by the Baker construction company for whom he worked so long, in closing down their operations during the funeral services at Oklaoma City, that they might all attend. Funeral services were held at the Buffalo Mission, conducted by Rev. McMullen of Ottawa, Kansas. The remains were laid to rest in the Buffalo cemetery. *********** Thank you one and all. Words fail to convey our sincere feelings of appreciation for assistance rendered, flowers given and sympathy shown in the loss of or loved one. We heartily join in thanking you for your kindness which we shall not forget. Gladys May Bursch and family F.G.
