F. Snyder, formerly a resident of Humeston, died on Jan. 9 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Hazelle Wells, at Climax, Nebr. The body was brought here last Thursday and the funeral held at the Methodist church, conducted by Rev. M. B. Wilson, at 2:30 o'clock in the afternoon. Interment was made at Humeston cemetery. Rachel Ann Taylor was born near Ottumwa, in Wapello county, Iowa, on February 9th, 1864, and died January 9, 1917, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Hazelle Wells, at Climax, Nebr., at the age of 52 years and 11 months. When a child she moved with her parents to Atlantic, in Cass county, Iowa. When eighteen she united with the Presbyterian church. In 1901 she united with the M. E. church of Humeston. She was a loyal, faithful member and worker in the church and took an active interest in the advancement of the kingdom until the day of her death. She was united in marriage to Benjamin Shute in Humeston on March 16, 1884. To this union were born: Richard Shute of Rawlins, Wyo., and Mrs. Hazelle Wells of Climax Nebr. Mr. Shute died January 6, 1894. She was married to Daniel F. Snyder on June 30, 1905, in Humeston. The husband, two children and a sister, Mrs. Mary Ewing, of Climax, Nebr., and three brothers survive. Mrs. Snyder was a good wife, a kind mother and took great interest in her home. She was a good neighbor and had many friends who will mourn her passing. In addition to Mr. Snyder, the following from out of town were present for the funeral: Mrs. Hazelle Wells, Climax, Nebr., Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Bay and son Deane of Chariton, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Snyder and Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Snyder of Cambria. Note: !MARR: Humeston Advocate Vol 6, No. 42, Humeston, Wayne, Iowa July 1, 1904 Snyder - Shute D.F. Snyder and Mrs. Rachel Shute were married at the home of the bride's mother, Mrs. J. W. Taylor, last evening at 8 o'clock, by Rev. G. H. Putnam, of the Congregational church. The wedding was a very quiet one, only the immediate family of the contracting parties being present. After the ceremony and congratulations a dainty two course supper was served by Miss Mary Taylor, sister of the bride. Mr and Mrs. Snyder leave this a fternoon for Des Monnes where they will visit until after the 4th and will then be at home to friends at the beautiful country home of Mr. Snyder, south of town.
