Nov 5, 1793, son of John Taylor and Agnes (Nancy) Archibald. He married Margaret Fisher, daughter of William Fisher and Mary Whidden. Margaret was first married to Matthew Harkness at a young age, and had two children, John Harkness, b. 1818, and Mary Ann, b. 1820. She married Matthew in 1827, and had James George, (who left Nova Scotia and lived in Australia)Ebenezer, Wentworth, Isaac, Eliza, Rebecca, and possibly more. There is a history of seafarers within that branch of the Taylors. Burial: Evergreen Cemetery Guysborough Guysborough County Nova Scotia, Canada Edit Virtual Cemetery info [?] Created by: Paulette Johnston P.B. -... Record added: Jan 30, 2012 Find A Grave Memorial# 84194878 Does anyone have any information on James George Taylor/Tylor/Tyler who came to Western Australia in 1842. His death certificate says he was born in "Country Harbour, Canada" and his father was "Matthew, a Farmer". He was born around 1830 and the only possible Matthew I can find around that time is Matthew Taylor, a farmer and husband of Margaret Fisher. They lived in the St Marys area. There is a rumour that JG left for Australia on the ship "Trusty". He would have only been about 11 or 12 at the time! I have searched all records of this ship's arrival in WA and can only find 1 possible record; of a "Handy Tyler, Sawyer" who arrived in 1842. This could be him, but there are no other personal details at all. The Trusty is recorded as sailing from London, but it may have sailed from Nova Scotia to London. It is possible that JG was a son of Matthew and Margaret because the 1838 census lists them as having 10 children at that time. I can find only 7 names for their children if you include John and Mary Anne Harkness from Margaret's first marriage to John Harkness (another mystery!) To date, the children of Matthew and Margaret I have found through various online databases are; Ebenezer, Wentworth, Isaac, Eliza and Rebecca. I'm interested to know why James George left Nova Scotia at such a young age. I am a West Australian descendant of James George Tylor who was my Great Grandfather. Heather Taylor Facey Ed TAylor & I believe that your George is in fact, Matthew & Margaret's son. At that time, there were Taylors in Country Hbr. but NO Tylers. It was not unusual for young boys to go to sea at a very early age here in Nova Scotia. That is where & how they learned the "trade" of being a mariner. There is a history of seafarers within that branch of the Taylors. His mother, Margaret Fisher d/o William Fisher & MAry Whidden was b. 2 Feb. 1802 in Musquodoboit, Halifax County, N.S. She m. 6 Nov. 1817 in St. MAry's, Guysborough Co. to Matthew Harkness ( at a v. young age ) & had 2 children: John Harkness b. 1818 & Mary Anne b. 1820 She then m. Matthew Taylor in 1827. I have photos of headstones for her children Ebenezer & Rebecca. Australia & New Zealand are on my "bucket list" We may meet in person. A nephew of my Dad's emigrated to New Zealand in teh 1950's. His family is featured on the reunion web site. CtabD Heather Taylor FaceyCtabD8:55am Jun 12 Kerry: the Matthew b. 1791-1876 m. Elizabeth Hoar 1792-1864. They are both buried in Robie Street Cemetery, Tryro, NS. Children : Catherine, Eleanor, Susan m. Charles Blackie; Thomas m Susan Lynds; James b. 1829 m. Elizabeth Watson; & Matthew 1831-1912 m. Esther Archibald. So, not your line I would think. Kerry Tylor My research shows it was probably Matthew, born , son of John Taylor and Nancy Archibald. He was the only Matthew Taylor I can find who was is documented as living in the Country Harbour area around the time JG was born. Also, Matthew had a brother and son both named Wentworth. My deceased uncle's name was Lomas Wentworth Jasmin Tylor. Another Matthew was born 29 May 1791 in Truro, Colchester Co., the son of David Taylor and Eleanor Archibald, but I don't have anymore information about him.
