a. Note:   Samuel (1762-1833), was known as "Lame Samuel". His first marriage was to his cousin, Margaret Archibald, daughter of Thomas Archibald, in 1790. They lived on the east side of the Salmon River Road and had three sons and three daughters. Margaret died in 1809 and he remarried to Nancy Clayton in 1810. They moved to St. Mary's and had seven sons and one daughter.
