He was known as David Archibald, 2nd. He was a Grantee of Truro Township and they settled on a farm on the south side of the Salmon River where they lived for 11 years, till 1789. He then sold his farm and they moved ten miles upstream to Kemptown where he built some mills. In 1793 the family moved to the Middle River of Pictou where be built another set of mills. In 1802 he returned to Kemptown for the rest of his life. In Sept. 1818 doctors in Truro amputated his leg, he having suffered for some time from a sore leg, but he died several days later. They had seven sons and two daughters.
