Notes
a. Note:   . Edward2 Bryden (Robert1) was born 1774 in Scotland, and died in Nova Scotia. He married (1) Susannah Archibald 1801 in Truro, NS, daughter of John Archibald and Margaret Fisher. She was born November 18, 1783 in Truro, Col.Co., NS, and died September 1808 in Truro, Col.Co., NS. He married (2) Eleanor Taylor March 14, 1810 in St. Mary's Guysboro Co., NS, daughter of John Taylor and Nancy Archibald. She was born December 10, 1789 in Musquodoboit, Hal. Co., NS, and died in Nova Scotia. Edward had two children by his first wife and five children by his second wife. He moved from Truro area in 1806, presumably after buying property at St. Mary's River from his brother, David Bryden. The St. Mary's River community had been established ca. 1800, with various of the early settlers coming from the Truro area. Although Edward petitioned for land at St. Mary's in 1809 and received a confirmatory grant for 250 acres in 1815, the St. Mary Township book states that he left the area in 1812, moving to Pictou. In actuality, he returned to the Bryden family nucleus at Middle River. He had been joined at St. Mary's in 1809 by his brother William, who also left the locality sometime after 1812, presumably removing to Old Barns, outside Truro. His second marriage to Eleanor Taylor, was performed by John Leggest Esq. of County Harbor. This marriage was registered on March 23, 1810 by Wentworth Taylor - Settlement Clerk. The marriage Bond date between Edward and Eleanor was March 9, 1810 and can be found on reel # 15928 at PANS. http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/h/a/r/Diane-Shauna-Harding/BOOK-0001/0012-0002.html
