Notes
a. Note:   The descendents of Amelia Flewwelling and Richard Bartlett Taylor exhibited the same pioneering spirit as that of their ancestors, while they had some severely restrictive obstacles to overcome. Amelia (Flewwelling) Taylor died at Maugerville, 31 January 1815, leaving Richard with two young children of three or four years of age, Amelia Jane, and Matthew. There is no evidence that Richard remarried soon thereafter, but as a young widower, he may have left his children in the care of his family, and sought new horizons to the south; he later married a woman from Pennsylvania and had a son, Bartlett Taylor, apparently born in Illinois about 1843. Richard is later found farming in San Juan, California, in the Census of 1860, at age 66, with a wife Mary, and son Bartlett Taylor. His motherless children however, apparently grew up near to their families on the St. John River, and each married a Harding-Spragg relative. 4881.
