This article is rather long so excuse if I misspell or anything, myhands are falling apart now :) Death of Dr. Warford Well known Cicero Physician Passed away Friday Night Dr. F.M. Warford, one of the most widely known physicians in Hamilton county, Indiana, passed away at his home in Cicero, Friday night, aged (nubmers faded away) The funeral occured Monday________ Dr. Warford resided with his parents in Putnam county until 1842, working on a farm during thesummer and attending school in the winter seasons. Removing to Iowa, he began the study of law, which he prosecuted for about one year in Wayne county. He then commenced the study of medicine under Dr. Thompson, and contnued his readings for three years, teaching school in the meantime. He then attended lectures in the Iowa State University at Keokuk, and was graduated from that institution in 1856. At once after completing the studies the young doctor began the practice of his profession at Hopeville, Iowa from which place he removed to Osceola and thence to Minnestoa, residing near Albert Lee. At the opening at the civil war, he enlisted in Company f. 40th Indiana Infantry, in which he served for two months. He was then commissioned assistant surgeon of the Third Iowa Calvary, in which he served about eighteen months. Later he was commissioned surgeon of the fourth Arkansas Cavalary, in which he remained until June 30, 1865, when he was mustered out of the service in Little Rock, Ark. At the close of his service, Dr. Warford came to Indiana and located in Ciceero, Dec 1865. He was a member of the Hamilton county medical association, being its president for three years; he was also identified with the State Medical association. Politically, a Republican he wasnot actively identified with the political affairs of the contry, preferring to devote his attentions relations to profesional duties. In his social relations he was amember of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and served as a delegate to the grand Lodge. He was a charter member of lodge No. 25, A.O.U. W. which was organized in 1876 In the Grand Armp of the Republic, he was serving at adjutant of A Post No. 207, (originally No. 160) which was reorganized in 1883. The doctor was a successful man, and was the owner of a farm, consisting of 320 acres, as well as a fine house and valuable business property. In 1857, Dr. Warford married Miss Rebecca M. Elsey, a native of Indiana. They were the parents of five children, one of whom is living.
