a. Note:   ISTRICT No. 51.� Effected an organization in 1862, and the following year the first term of school was held at the residence of H. B. Riggs. in section eleven, by Miss Orpha Skinner, with an attendance of about twelve scholars. Then, in 1867, the schoolhouse was erected in the western-part of section twelve, which has since been greatly improved. The last term of school was taught by Miss Belle Cheadle with an average attendance of twenty-five scholars.
