(1842-1860) Worked in a general merchandise store of M. P. Cayce in Farmington, MO in 1842 and lived with his sister Lucinda and brother-in-law William Ross in St. Francois.(Ref 1850 & 1860 census) Deputy Clerk of the Circuit & County Courts of St. Francois County-1845; California Gold Miner 1849; Lawyer 1871 Discovered the Doe Run lead mines in 1889; Flat River lead mines, and was the prime mover in opening up a number of valuable mines in the Flat River Region in St. Francois County, MO.
