NY In the late 1850's Thomas and part of his family left Orange Co., NY and moved to Dakota Co., Minnesota. Some of the family remained there. Benjamin returned and so did Thomas for they show up on 1865 census for Orange co., NY. Benjamin is stated to have returned 1863. Thomas is still in Minnesota in the fall of 1859 for he is found to have bought land there. Henderson is named for the Land Office Code. Thomas & Cornelia are listed on page 137 along with Benjamin, Samuel M., Henry & Mariah, Andrew L., Agnes, Fanny L. & Anna M. Caskey. Found on Ancestry.com under Daughters of the American Revolution: Grace Caskey Cotton b. Deerpark: w/o William Edwin Cotton. Grace is d/o Benjamin Caskey (1829-1896) & Maria Brack (1837-1915)-(Ben & Maria m. 1861)-Benjamin is s/o Thomas Caskey (1787-1866) & Cornelia Haynes (1796-1862)-(Thomas & Cornelia m. 1813)-Cornelia is d/o Frederick Haynes (d. 1807 Sussex Co., NJ) & Temperance Decker-(Fred & Temperance m. 1796). There are a couple problems with this. For one I have Thomas born abt 1797 according to three different census takings. And at this point I am unsure about Temperance being mother of Cornelia. This needs to be looked into further though. This Thomas was only married once to Cornelia Haynes. Thomas is being confused with another Thomas who married Lydia Hopkins. I think what happened is when some of our older researchers started there was not the information available like it is now. I notice in William Coulter's articles he finds just marriage dates so it looks like it is the same Thomas marrying twice. Now we have more information available to us today so we know that Thomas that m. Lydia Hopkins was born 1766 and this Thomas was born abt 1797. The Thomas that married Lydia is a nephew of John & Mary, this Thomas's parents. He also at one time lived with John. Thomas is the son of John's brother, Robert Caskey.
