a. Note:   This comes from Kendall McCoy Burns. She descends through Gardner & Elizabeth. "My grandma talked a lot about visiting her grandmother Elizabeth in Kentucky. She remembered a log cabin with rag rugs on the floor. And she hated fried chicken to the day she died because she said they frequently had it for BREAKFAST and she had to help pluck the chickens before the break of dawn. She said it wasn't unusual to have fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and biscuits and gravy around five in the morning before Alvin through Thomas and kids went to work in the fields. " "Here's another interesting tidbit for you...my great grandmother Elizabeth remarried after Gardner died. She married a man named Frank Richards who had a large family of boys. Elizabeth wasn't very crazy about her young daughter Vivian (my grandmother) being around a bunch of rough and tumble teenage boys, so she sent my grandmother to live with her (grandma's) older brothers and their wives. Claude, Glenn, and Roy took turns raising my grandma. After graduating from high school in Port Huron, Michigan my grandmother returned to Decorah, Iowa and married one of Frank's boys (one of her step-brothers). His name was Lloyd. Lloyd is my grandfather and is still living in Des Moines, Ia in the house he and my grandma bought in 1936. How's that for interesting stuff? "
