Library THE THOMAS CASKEY FAMILY Mrs. Woodrow Stamper (nee Georgia Mae Caskey), West Liberty, supplies information on the Caskey family that will be of wide interest. In researching Morgan County families for the past 25 years, it was found that more of them connect in some way to Thomas Caskey and Lydia Hopkins Caskey than any other. A story about Elie McGuire of. Ezel took me all the way back to 1813 and still back another generation to Orange County, New York. A story on the Blairs did the same as did stories on the Lewis's, Days and others. Lydia Hopkins was the daughter of Garner (Gardner) Hopkins who was born July 16, 1750 married Polly Chambers. Garner and Polly were married in Orange County, New York in April 1773 according to Mrs. Stamper's records from family Bibles. Garner served in the Revolutionary War and is buried, (as is Thomas Caskey), in an old cemetery about two miles north of West Liberty, known as the Charlie Cottle farm and prior to that the Potter farm. He was discharged at West Point and later while a resident of Floyd county (that section to become Morgan) applied for a pension.
